Regardless of the INCOTERM used, it is always the responsibility of the recipient to immediately check whether a shipment is in good condition upon receival from the carrier and only acknowledge receipt when everything is found to be in order.
Goods with damaged package received:
All goods leave TEFCOLD in perfect condition. In case of any damage on the package shipped by TEFCOLD, there will be a sticker “Tested by TEFCOLD” applied on the box.
According to the CMR Convention (full title Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road, 19th of May 1956) if you have received your goods with damaged package:
- Before unpacking, please take photos of a box/package from all four sides. If damage can be seen already in the truck, kindly take a picture.
- If damage is ascertained when the goods have been received at the agreed location, then make a remark in POD/CMR if package is damaged (even slightly) and in detail describe visible damage.
- Claim deadline for visible damage - inform the transport provider immediately.
If it was TEFCOLD transport – please inform your TEFCOLD contact person immediately.
If it was your own transport – inform your transport company immediately. As soon as your goods are loaded, all responsibility goes to your transport company. Therefore, your truck driver is highly recommended to participate in loading process as he/she must accept the goods and sign the loading list after loading is complete.
After that you can unpack and check the goods for non-visible damage.
Damaged goods received:
Please provide:
- Shipment ref. number or invoice number
- Serial number of the damaged product
- Date and time of receipt
- Detailed description of the damage
- A photo of the damaged product
- A photo of package from all four sides, no matter if it is damaged or intact
- Claim deadline for not-visible damage - Inform TEFCOLD contact person as soon as possible and no later than 7 days.
Normally we do not accept claims on handling/transport damage without photos of package. TEFCOLD needs a copy of POD/CMR, photos of the package as well as the list of the damaged items to be able to assess the scope of the damage and track the accident. If TEFCOLD deems it necessary, the package can be taken back to TEFCOLD warehouse for further assessment. So please don’t dispose of the package until the claim has been settled.
